England backed by spin great to secure Ashes 2025-26 victory in Australia

Former England spinner Graeme Swann has made a prediction on the winner of the highly anticipated Ashes 2025–26 series, which is scheduled to take place in Australia later this year. Swann backed the Ben Stokes-led team to defeat Australia, led by Pat Cummins, in the upcoming five-match Test series.

England came close to defeating Australia in the last Ashes series at home. However, their record in Australia remains a major concern. They last secured a series victory in 2010. England have consistently struggled in Australian conditions, suffering heavy defeats in every series played against Australia.

England Fail to Win a Single Test Match in Last Three Ashes Tours

England have endured a tough run in Australia over the last three Ashes tours, failing to win a single Test match. The 2025-26 Ashes series is set to begin in Perth on November 21.

England, led by Ben Stokes, drew the 2023 series 2-2 at home, but they haven’t managed to win an Ashes Test in Australia since 2011. Their last two visits ended in heavy 4–0 defeats, and they were whitewashed 5–0 in 2013.

Australia retained the urn with a 2-2 draw in England in 2023. They won the home series in 2017-18 and 2021-22 by identical 4–0 margins. England’s inability to win in Australia remains a major hurdle.

I Always Get Them Wrong – Graeme Swann on Ashes 2025-26 Prediction

In a video shared by Sky Sports on X (formerly known as Twitter), Graeme Swann backed Ben Stokes’ side to win the upcoming Ashes series in Australia 3-2. Swann said that he hates making predictions because they often turn out wrong, but added that England will win this time.

“I hate predictions – 3-2. I only hate predictions because I always get them wrong, but I just think England will win. One thing you do know these days, you don’t get many games rained off, and not many matches go the full five days,” Swann said.

I Think There Will Be Five Results – Graeme Swann Predicts Ashes Winner

Graeme Swann said that Test matches rarely go the full five days and predicted that all five games will produce results. He urged England fans to turn out in large numbers and help create a home-like atmosphere during the series opener in Perth. He added that it could set the tone for the series.

“So I think there will be five results, and if England can get a good start. As I said, here in Perth, come over and support them, as many people as possible. Make that our home stadium. If we can do that, get off to a good start, it gives us the upper hand. And we’ll be like Newcastle in the Carabao, victorious,” he added.

Before the Ashes, England will host India in a five-match Test series. The series between England and India will commence on June 20 in Leeds.
