England to face New Zealand and Costa Rica in final World Cup preparations

England will face New Zealand and Costa Rica in their final warm-up games ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

The Three Lions booked their spot at this summer’s tournament in emphatic fashion, winning all eight of their qualifying matches under Thomas Tuchel.

They became just the second European team to win 100% of their qualifying matches without conceding, after Yugoslavia (four games) did so ahead of the 1954 World Cup.

England will face Croatia, Ghana and Panama at the tournament, with all their games taking place in the United States.

Tuchel’s side will play in front of home fans for the final time before the World Cup in March, taking on Uruguay and Japan at Wembley Stadium.

They will then face New Zealand and Costa Rica, who they met at the 2014 World Cup, in Florida.

The New Zealand game will take place on June 6, with the Costa Rica friendly set for June 10.

England have not faced New Zealand, who also qualified for the World Cup with a perfect record (5/5), since 1991, with the venue for the friendly yet to be announced.
