Nottingham Forest have now made an approach to sign an “outstanding” midfielder, who could be brought in as a replacement for Elliot Anderson.

England manager Thomas Tuchel has become a big fan of Anderson in recent times, saying back in November: “Anderson is a key player for us at the moment. He is one of the best midfielders in the Premier League – that’s why he is with us and starting for us.
“He is an elite player with the right attitude and a lot of talent. He is fulfilling his role in the best way possible so we are very happy with him.”
However, it may be difficult for Forest to keep hold of the midfielder, who is one of their prized assets, with David Ornstein confirming all the ‘top clubs’ are interested in securing his signature.
With the Englishman under contract until 2029, there is no pressing need to cash-in, but should the Tricky Trees decide to do so, they are likely to have plenty of money to bring in a replacement, as a potential transfer fee of £100m has been touted.
According to a report from TEAMtalk, Nottingham Forest are looking at options from within the Premier League to replace Anderson, and they have now made an approach to sign Curtis Jones, with the midfielder’s Liverpool future up in the air.
Talks over a new contract have stalled in recent weeks, given that the Reds were open to a departure in the January transfer window, and Jones’ current deal has just over 16 months remaining before expiry.
Forest have made enquiries over a deal for the Englishman, but they may have to fend off plenty of rival interest, with Crystal Palace, Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United, Borussia Dortmund and Atalanta also being named as potential suitors.

Of course, no Nottingham Forest fan will want Anderson to move on, given the level of his performances this season, with Statman Dave hailing his ability to win back possession.
The 23-year-old’s ability to pick out his teammates has also been highlighted, but the Liverpool star excels in that area too, averaging 74.5 accurate passes per 90 in the Premier League this season, the highest number in Arne Slot’s squad.

An average of 2.7 accurate long balls per 90 ranks the 25-year-old in third place, and he has received plaudits from Slot, who described the midfielder as “outstanding” last season.
As such, if Anderson departs at the end of the campaign, Jones could be a solid replacement, but Nottingham Forest should do everything to try and keep hold of their star player.
