Live updates: Trump to honor Kirk with Medal of Freedom; Senate to vote as shutdown hits Day 14

LIVE Video: Trump awards Charlie Kirk with posthumous Medal of Honor

President Trump on Tuesday afternoon is slated to honor the late Charlie Kirk with the Medal of Freedom

Both chambers of Congress passed a resolution marking Oct. 14, Kirk’s 32nd birthday, as a day of remembrance, after the conservative commentator was fatally shot while speaking at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah, last month.

Earlier Tuesday, the president welcomed Argentinian President Javier Milei to the White House, where the two leaders discussed a $20 billion currency swap, among other issues. 

Meanwhile, on Capitol Hill, the Senate is back and session and is expected to vote during the 5 p.m. hour on the House-passed continuing resolution to fund the government as the shutdown hits the two-week mark.
